Abid Sadykovich Sadykov was outstanding scientist - the organic chemist and the statesman, academician of Academy of Sciences of USSR and UzbekSSR, the honored worker of a Science and Technology of Republic Uzbekistan, honored with title of Hero of Socialist work, department head of chemistry of natural compounds (1946-1974), director of Institute of Chemistry of AS of UZSSR (1946-1950), the rector of the Tashkent State University (1958-1966), the President of Academy of Sciences of Republic Uzbekistan (1966-1984).
Academician A.S. Sadykov was one of founders of a chemical science in Uzbekistan. His scientific interest was related with researches of natural compounds of wild-growing flora of Central Asia. A.S. Sadykov was the initiator of researches in new area of a chemical science in Uzbekistan - the bioorganic chemistry, new approaches and views based on modern physical and chemical and theoretical methods, such as spectroscopy, quantum chemistry, fine organic synthesis, conformational analysis, mathematical modeling of chemical structures and properties.
The talented teacher and the organizer who has created new directions in a chemical science, has brought up school of researchers widely known in the country and abroad. A.S.Sadykov's all life was boundlessly devoted to a science; it has been dedicated to selfless service to people.
A.S.Sadykov was the founder and first director of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences (1973-1987).
