   Research area
Investigation of toxins, enzymes and kallikrein-kinin system components in black widow spider venom. Determination of function mechanisms and biosyntesis regulation of natural kinin-like neurotoxins.
   Important results
The physico-chemical and functional properties of venom, hemolymph and ova extracts of the Latrodectus tredecimguttatus (black widow spider) were investigated. For the first time the high-purified kininase and bradykinin potentiating peptides were received and characterized. The cholinaesterase was extracted from the black widow spider's venom, which according to physico-chemical properties are referred to acetilcholinaesterase. Vasoactive peptides with kinin-like activity were extracted in pure form from the hornet's and wasp's venoms. Two peptides were extracted from the Vespa orientalis's (hornet) venom, also with kinin-like activity. Their complete aminoacides sequences were determined and one of them is the structural analogy of the bradykinin. Determined peptide has myotropical activity and functioning as a hypotention substance with prolonged action. The five peptides were extracted from the Polistes gallicus's (wasp) venom in homogenized form with kinin like activity. We obtained patents on extracting physiologically active peptides from arthoropoda. The received resultes were reported on internationals symposiums in Japan, USA, German and Brazil.
   Practical application of results
Extracted enzymes and peptides can be used in laboratory practice in structurally-functional comparative researches and also in study of kallikrein-kinin system properties and functions at mammals and also use the kinin and kinin's antibodies as a drug.
   Plans for future
Definition of the physiologically active components role in venoms, haemolynph and ova extracts of the black widow spider. Elucidate affect mechanisms these substances and their influence to mammals; research the low-weight peptides.
