Research area
- The study of an influence of physiologically active compounds from animals and plants as well as different medical preparations on the structure and functions of biological and artificial membranes. For this purpose a range of different physical-chemical methods is used (ESR, NMR, DSC, fluorescence, computation and methods of molecular modelling). The investigation subjects are natural polyphenols and terpens, polypeptides from snake venom and plants, low molecular weight phosphororganic and heterocyclic compounds having pesticide activities, etc.
Important results
- In model of lipid systems, the structure of lipid-protein complex for cytotoxins from Naja naja oxiana cobra venom and thionin from Pyrularia pybera has been determined.
It has been identified the cause of toxic action of phosphororganic and heterocyclic compounds having pesticide activities connecting with destruction in membrane structure.
It has been revealed the effective regulator of intracellular processes (antioxidant activity, carrying over of ions, pass intracellular signals) and systems of blood coagulation.
Practical application of results
- This research contributes to the conception of molecular mechanism of low weight compounds` activity on the biological membranes.
Complex approach of the study of the membrane active property allows carrying out selection of biological active compounds with target properties.
The results are used as a methodological recommendation for the modification of medical preparations.
Plans for future
- To search an effective regulator of homeostasis and the study of its influence on blood coagulation.
To research an interaction of peptides from animals and plants with different cell systems.
To research the molecular mechanism action of perspective remedy isolated or synthesized in Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry.
