   Research area
Fundamental bases of chemistry of gossypol and its derivatives and creation on their base drugs of broad spectrum of action.
   Important results
It is synthesized and proved the structures of nearly 300 new derivatives of gossypol from which following conclusion are derived:

  • existence of quinoid form alkyl-, aryl-, heterylimines of gossypol;
  • existence of benzoic form of condensation products of gossypol with methylenactive substances;
  • hydroxyazoform for azoderivatives of gossypol.

Structure-functional analysis of gossypol derivatives has allowed revealing regularities of dependency of their biological activity from the type of reaction of interaction, from doses and time of the contact material with the cell.
   Practical application of results
On the base of gossypol and their derivatives are created and introduced in the practical medicine:

  • linimentum of gossypoli 3% - antiviral preparation with a wide range of virus etiology herpes zoster, herpes simplex, psoriasis, influenza;
  • unguentum megosini 3% - antiherpetic preparation for adult (herpes genitalic, psoriasis);
  • tabulletae batrideni 0,1 g -immunosupressor after allotransplantation of kidney, for the treatment of chronic glomerulonephrit and allergodermatozes;
  • tabulletae gozalidoni 0,1 g - an inductor of interferone for treatment chlamidiose (fitility, prostatit, epididimit, zervizite, reactive arthritic, etc).

Successful clinical study passes a preparation - tabulletae ragosini 0,005g for treatment of hepatitis B,C,D.

On different stages preclinical studying suppositories for children and adult antiherpetic and antichlamidia action, antioxidants, etc are found.
   Plans for future
Structure-functional analysis of new derivatives of gossypol and their watersoluble complexes with N-polyvinilpyrrolidone.

Development of new drug forms on the base of derivatives of gossypol (gels, suppositories, capsules, drops).

The development of normative-technical documentation for organization of their production and introduction in the practical medicine.
